The new house needs much updating of the 1950s decor. My brilliant first project was to rip out the faux fireplace in the living room leaving two holes in the plaster. The pair of diminutive holes revealed a bit of red brick behind the plaster. Chipping away more plaster revealed more brick. Therefore, the next illogical step was to chip away the entire wall with a hand held wrecking bar. Well let’s just say, 3 weeks later and mountains of plaster, sand, and horse hair (it was an old school method to bind the plaster making it stronger) the brick wall looked less then stellar. My friend Warren stopped by to see the house and upon looking at the mostly exposed brick exclaimed, "A little drywall will fix this right up". What a dickhead, I thought....of myself.
